These Thoughts
September 5, 2009

My mind is swimming,
swimming with the thoughts never ceasing,
it never takes a nap,
it keeps running laps,
it makes me tired to a point of sleeping,
sleeping to quiet these noises that never stop.

It makes me think about nothing else,
nothing here and nothing now,
only about the future,
the future that comes near,
nearer every day.

If I sleep it will stay away,
only for a short time will it go away,
unless it comes in my dreams,
which I hope never happens.

So I await the time I sleep,
so that I may put these thoughts at bay,
until the next day.
